November 2018: World AIDS Day; Know your status

On the 1st of December 2018 marked the celebration of the 30th world AIDS day under the theme “know your status” , which reminded the world on how far the HIV epidemic since 1988 has reached. This year’s theme not only addresses the linkages between awareness to the disease and testing HIV status, but also to the proper treatment of HIV positive individuals, which is very critical in preventing infections.

The Municipal Health Office, in collaboration with the Provincial health office in Dipolog City conducted a whole-day seminar and invited students from Sergio Osmeña High School , teachers, representatives from Lesbian, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) and medical students from the different barangays in Sergio Osmeña as participants during the said occasion. An interactive lecture and discussion was observed, and the participants were encouraged to ask questions during the forum.

The government in the health sector exhaust all its effort in preventing the spread of infection, promoting health educations and proper treatment, but it needs the cooperation of everybody to stop the stigma and to know their status. All you have to do is go to the nearest treatment hub, and know your status.
