Improper Solid Waste Management has been the leading Community Health Problem in Brgy. Venus, Sergio Osmena Sr. Being one of the farthest barangay in the Municipality, they lack collection facilities with poor garbage collection schedules which have caused their garbages to pile up in each Purok. This has alarmed the residents and our team so we created Materials Recovery Facilities in each Purok Centers. Thinking that this measure will improve proper solid waste practice, during the primary survey conducted in 2017, waste segregation increased to the target of 90%.
In September 2018, our team conducted again the primary survey for waste segregation which revealed that households practicing proper solid waste management decreased to 87%.
Thus, we decided to do a house-to-house health education and distribution of malata/dili-malata sacks. This activity aim to reach the objective on improving the knowledge and practices on proper solid waste management through health education and community involvement.
