The country's war on illegal drugs is undeniably, never-ending. And it was found out that majority of drug users in the Philippines are teenagers.

Fortunately, one of the priorities of the nation these past years, is to inform the general public especially the adolescents about it, its ill effects on the individual, and the great harm it poses to the society.

The Department of Education in coordination with the local government unit, the Philippine National Police, Regional Health Unit and the student doctors of Sergio Osmeña held its first ever Barkada Kontra Droga Day in Sergio Osmeña National High School, Poblacion Bajo, SO last November 15, 2018.

Team Venus together with the teams Bajo and Sinai hand in hand shared a meaningful day with hundreds of students of SONHS. Team Venus opened the program, and comprehensively delivered an interactive opening lecture on drugs and its harmful effects on youth of today. The said lecture involved a two-way electronic communication system that involved the speakers, and the kids to make sure that it was something that would no doubt cling into their minds.

Team Sinai gave the bulk lecture, about types of drugs, their symptoms, and medical consequences. Team Bajo led a Pera-o-Bayong game that was based on the lecture given. Vis-a-vis the lecture, the Barkada Kontra Droga day also involved different contests among the highschoolers such as Poster-Making, Slogan-writing, and Singing contest. Winners of whom were awarded at the end of the day. It was a successful day for all the participants, and even a more successful day for Team Venus, and for the other teams; for it was a privilege to instill useful knowledge on the youth's minds.

The war on illegal drugs is far from over, but little by little, youth can be empowered to do more things beneficial than to turn to it. Being advocates of the anti-drug campaign requires great courage, skill and strength, and the student doctors of Sergio Osmeña are more than willing to cross bridges for it.
