January-March 2019: SUSTANSYARAP FEEDING PROGRAM

Feeding programs have been a way to address the malnutrition problem in the barangay. Currently, the barangay has feeding programs in their day care centers and elementary school which are funded by the DSWD and DepEd respectively. In an effort to further strengthen these projects, the team also came up their own feeding program entitled “SUSTANSYARAP Feeding Program”.

Nutritious and cheap recipes showcased during the cooking show contest were adapted during the daily meal preparations. Some of the funds were donated by one of the residents in the barangay in order to help undernourished children improve their health status through proper nutrition.

The feeding program is an eight (8) week activity catering the identified 15 undernourished children in the barangay. The children are being fed with a variety of nutritious, locally prepared food everyday at lunch time prepared by the medical students.

Every week the children are being weighed to monitor improvement in their nutritional status. Currently, the feeding program is on its 4th week which graduated 4 malnourished kids.
