November - December 2018: Recycling Activities

Solid Waste Management is the top most perceived problem in barangay Venus which was identified by the community residents along with the medical students. Aside from constructing Municipality Recovery Facilities (MRF) and series of information and education campaign on proper waste disposal, this exposure Team Venus thought of engaging the elementary students in a recycling activity.

The recycling activity was scheduled on Wednesdays. On the first recycling activity, dated November 7, 2018, the team taught them on how to make paper bags out of newspapers and used folders.

For the second recycling activity, dated November 21, 2018, the team taught them on how to make pencil cases out of rice sacks and zippers.

After few weeks passed, we saw them using the paperbags and pencil cases. It was indeed heartwarming, and it inspired us to think of more fun recycling activities for them. This activity may seem simple but the idea of recycling that the team taught them will go a long way. Kuddos to our next generation!
