April-May 2019: SOLAR DISINFECTION STATIONS

Various activities and strategies has been implemented to provide access to safe drinking water to the community residents of Barangay Venus. The team had already launched massive information and dissemination campaign to educate the community residents on different water purification techniques like boiling, solar disinfection and chlorination.

This exposure the team together with the Barangay Officials of Venus, Sergio Osmena Sr. were able to construct three Solar Disinfection stations. The construction was headed by the Barangay Kagawads assigned per each purok. These SoDis stations were placed strategically to the three puroks. The stations were created to provide a readily available, easy to use, clean and safe area where residents can practice water purification technique.

Solar Disinfection is a simple water treatment method using natural solar radiation to inactivate pathogens commonly found in drinking water. It is very cheap and effective method of water purification.
