January-March 2019: TB Advocacy Day

Each year we commemorate World TB Day on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic impact of tuberculosis (TB) and urge acceleration efforts to end the global TB epidemic. Despite significant progress over the last decades, TB continues to be among the top infectious killer in the Philippines.
In barangay Venus since 2016, we have reached 100% case detection rate and currently, it increased to 170% However, case detection rate for Tuberculosis in Sergio Osmena remains at around 33%.
Hence, Team Venus spearheaded the TB advocacy program in different Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas in coordination with the OIC- MHO Sherwayne B. Entrina, RN on February 6, March 5 and March 6. The team conducted a health awareness lecture on tuberculosis.

The team also conducted active case finding activities to reach its goal of becoming a ‘TB-free community’.
