January-March 2019: Giya Para sa mga Ginikanan

Child mental and behavioral disorder ranks third in the municipality and second in barangay Venus in the incidence rate of common mental health disorders. Venus Elementary School caters children with special needs. For this school year, six pupils are enrolled under the supervision of Mrs. Charity Dominguez.

Last February 28, 2019, Team Venus conducted a lecture entitled “Giya Para sa mga Ginikanan”. The lecture was attended by six caregivers and one teacher.

This event also served as an avenue for the audience to share the challenges that they face and the reward brought about by taking care of a child with special needs. The content of the said lecture was lifted from World Health Organization’s mental health Gap Action Programme. This lecture aims to improve the caregivers’ behavior in providing guidance and well-being to their child and at the same time coordinate with the teacher on ways how to deal with her pupils’ special needs.
