Barangay Venus held its first Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) lecture workshop last February 27, 2019 at Venus Covered Court. The team conducted this lecture workshop regarding Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for specific reasons, mainly to make the locals aware of what is going on around the community in terms of these 3 topics.
For Water, the team presented water analysis results to the residents,
making them aware about the status; the team also discussed how to use Waterine
Hyposol to make the residents' water potable.
The team also dispensed the
solutions to almost every household in the barangay, thanks to DOST who gave
out the supplies to the team.
For Sanitation, lectures on compost pit and
segregation were given. It was an interactive type of lecture where residents
were given the chance to mold their own pits. Mr. Melvin Ando from the Municipal
Environmental and Natural Resources Office gave out a lecture on Waste
Segregation, and right out informed the locals on the status of waste
segregation in the barangay.
Printing of 275 sacks for segregation was done simultaneous with the assembly by the medical students. They were distributed to the attendees afterwards.
The team also had its turn-over of the CORN-MRF to the barangay. A state of the art 3 Materials Recovery Facility, in corn design structures. The team together with the locals hand-in-hand sculpted the said MRFs using recycled truck tires, left over steels and nets.
For Hygiene, the team reviewed on the "F" diagram. Attendees were given pretest and post test examinations for evaluation regarding the said topics.
It was a successful event that day that ended in a
groufie.
