As part of the relentless efforts to eradicate Tuberculosis
in the Philippines, Team Venus exerts all its efforts to identify TB
presumptive individuals and submit themselves for sputum examination, identify a treatment partner to ensure proper
treatment and monitoring. Barangay Venus has a treatment success rate of 100%
and reached its target case detection above the national target of 85% for two
consecutive years. The team does not
stop despite the accomplishments made in collaboration with the health care
personnel in Sergio Osmeña. Proper
education and increasing awareness to tuberculosis is the key in eradicating
the disease and putting a stop to the stigma, and preventing further
infections.
The team adopted a TB case finding, which was an innovation
made by the previous medical students assigned in Sergio Osmeña to aid the
health workers in active case finding activities, especially in hard to reach
areas in the community.
