One
of Team Venus’ strategies in combating malnutrition is to provide alternative source of
cheap and nutritious food in the community through food security. Thus, to ensure food sustainability in every household, communal gardens in the three puroks (Mars, Jupiter and Uranus) were started.
Before a communal garden can start, we had several visits and meetings with the Provincial Agricultural Office and Municipal Agricultural Office. Seeds were given by Ma’am Ces Plana which consisted of Squash, Bitter gourd, Sweet pepper and Tomato. Distribution of seeds were then accomplished through the help of our purok kagawads in the barangay. Initial inspection of the three communal gardens were done several days after the distribution of seeds. Final inspection and judging of communal gardens will be done during the Araw ng Venus in February.
