April-May 2019: BP KO CHECK KO, A SELF-CHECK BP BOOTH PREMIERES

Last february 2019, with the team's strategic initiative in full participation and cooperation of the community residents, Barangay Venus successfully held its cheapest Dagan Para sa Dughan Fun Run, a fundraising activity. It was transparent to everyone who bought tickets that the proceeds will directly benefit the Hypertensive residents in the Barangay. A sum of approximately 7,000php was raised.

With it, the team was able to procure an Omron digital blood pressure monitor which the team used as the core of the BP Ko Check Ko, Self-Check BP Booth. The team also procured a vending machine, specifically fit for the monitor. The team constructed a booth made up of recycled wood blocks, painted in red acrylic. The contraption works if plugged into an electrical socket, and if inserted with a 5-peso coin. The machine buys the customer 5 minutes which gives 5-7 bp readings. It was shown to the public and had its ribbon-cutting ceremony last April 2019, during the Hypertension Culminating Activity. A step-by-step demonstration on how to properly use it was discussed among the attendees.

A scheme, for diagnosed hypertensive individuals was posted as guide for appropriate intervention. The booth was quality checked and tested prior to use. It is located midpoint between purok Jupiter and purok Mars for the convenience of the majority of hypertensive individuals. The money accumulated in the vending machine will be used in hypertensive medications of the highblaron, if there happens to be a scarcity of medication supply in the Health Center.
