March - April 2016: Maternal Summit

April 18, 2016 - the second Maternal Summit in Sergio Osmeña is held in the Sinai Gymnasium, not sure if that's the only gymnasium around since we couldn't move around that much in Sergio because of other duties like surveying barangay venus and stuff.

The event started at the open field of the municipal office. There the pregnant women registered and was given shirts for the upcoming parade. After the registration of all attendee's, an opening ceremony headed by the local enforcers, police men and women, of the National Anthem and Peoples Oath(not sure about the translation if correct: Panatang Makabayan) was done. I would like to add more details after the opening ceremony but that might take sometime, especially the time when I was documenting the parade and alot of the attendee's were really cooperative despite the long walk.

Moving on to the actual event. The Maternal Summit composed of 3 parts. The first part is about the speeches of the Mayor, Madam Nutritionist( I am so gonna be dead for not remembering her name) and of Doctor( My groupmates are so gonna kill me now). The second part is where the women formed into groups headed by the NDP's as the lecturer for all about maternal health, I joined a group to listen to and boy those NDP's sure know their stuff. The third and final part was a beauty pageant for all the pregnant women in the envent, and one of the judges was yours truly. I would love to go into the details where the contestants showed some of their talents, beauty, confidence, etc. but I'll leave those to the pictures, its what they always say "A picture is worth a thousand words"..I should also mention that our barangay representative, barangay Venus, won the pageant.
