In order to spread awareness regarding mental
health illnesses, a mental health campaign was launched through the
distribution of pamphlets during the house to house resurvey of the team last
April 29-May 2. To cover the three
Puroks (namely Mars, Jupiter and Uranus) during the resurvey, the team was
divided into three groups. The pamphlets given out were about psychosis and
depression, two of the most common mental health illness in barangay Venus. The
content was already translated in the local dialect for the residents to have a
better understanding of the topics. Upon receiving the pamphlets, most of the
residents read through them right away while others vouched to read it later in
the day or during their leisure time. The team was able to resurvey 90% of the
households and hence the pamphlets also reached 90% of the households. Also,
posters regarding psychosis and mental health of the same content as the
pamphlets were posted in the Purok Center of each Purok.
