November 21, 2016: Health Education on Proper Solid Waste Management
It was a rainy afternoon when we pursued our lecture-workshop at Venus Elementary School. The bed weather couldn't stop us, anyway.
With 20 participants from Grade 4 to 6, we started our lecture at around 2 PM. It started with a prayer headed by Kian Rosaupan, a grade 6 student and the Opening Remarks by yours truly, the SWM project head.
To assess the students' current knowledge on proper solid waste management, specifically, on garbage disposal, we distributed pre test papers to each participants.
Pre test.
Lecture followed after the pre test. Two lecturers were assigned to discuss the types of wastes and types of waste bags.
Lecture proper.
Of course the lecture won't be interactive without the children's participation. Next, we distributed kits which contained different materials to be answered by the kids.
Distribution of Kits for different exercises about SWM.
In between the lectures, the children volunteered to have a dance number.
Intermission Number.
We had two parts of the lecture.
The first part was by yours truly and the second part was by Aren Nurilla.
Exercises followed the lectures.

At around 4:30 PM, the lecture-workshop ended. We distributed snacks afterwards to reward the kids for their attentiveness. It was a long, rainy day but it hadn't stop the students from learning something new. In the end of the rain, there's a rainbow.
