The 4Ps operates in all the 17 regions in the Philippines, covering 79 provinces, 143 cities, and 1,484 municipalities. Beneficiaries are selected through the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), which identifies who and where the poor are in the country.
The Department of Health (DOH) conducted orientations for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) who will be tasked to get the profile of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries for the Kalusugang Pangkalahatan (KP) program. Our team had been assisting our BHWs who are also known as family leaders in profiling the beneficiaries of 4Ps within Barangay Venus to ensure that all targets enlisted under the national household targeting system. This is also being done to ensure that all are really qualified to be sponsored for free health services from the government.
The 4Ps also helps the Philippine government fulfill its commitment to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)—specifically in eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, in achieving universal primary education, in promoting gender equality, in reducing child mortality, and in improving maternal health care. Helping our BHWs in profiling the 4Ps beneficiaries is a small effort for a bigger purpose. We always believe that working hand in hand with other government agencies will help us achieve the dream of the nation and that is to build a self-reliant communities.
